Signed on with CAC
I wanted to take some time to update everyone on where we are in the adoption process. We officially signed out with Christian Adoption Consultants on Friday. The consulting agency is not the actual adoption agency. The consulting agency will help to guide us through the adoption process. They have relationships with a number of adoption agencies, this will allow us to sign on with multiple agencies. The idea is that this should lower our wait time because our profile will be shown to more expectant mothers. The consulting agency will also help us to understand situations that are presented to us and help us to decide if we should present our profile to the expectant mother or not. In short the consulting agency acts almost as our advocate and helps us to make the best decision for our family and situation.
Now that we are signed on with the consulting agency we will be working on our profile book. The profile book is what is shown to expectant mothers to help them decide what family they would like to place their child with. This profile book is so important, and a crucial piece to having an expectant mom choose our family. We have actually decided to allow our consulting agency to design our profile book. To be honest I am not very creative and I don't have any idea what an expectant mom is looking for. However, our consultant knows exactly what an expectant mother is looking for. So over the next week or so we will be compiling lots and lots and lots of photos and filling out a very detailed questionnaire to turn into them. Once we have done this it will take them two - three weeks to completely design our profile book. After our book is complete we will be ready to start signing out with agencies, this is when it gets real!
Hopefully in the next month of so we will be signing on with agencies and begin the waiting period for an expectant mom to choose our family. We would ask that you begin to pray for our child's mother. If we are chosen soon that means that our child's mother is most likely already pregnant. Pray that if she is not in a situation where she feels supported that she would feel support. Pray that she will receive respect from those around her in the decision that she has made. Pray that she will feel confident in the decision that she has made, and that she will feel comfort and grace in the decision that she has made. Pray that she will have peace in the decision that she has made. Pray that if she does not know the Lord that she will feel his undeniable love during this time. We are so excited about the chance to bring another child into our home, but that fact that another woman is making one of, if not the hardest, decisions of her life is not lost on us. It is our desire that she feel loved and respected by us, and that the Lord would be glorified though this process.
As we near the time to signing on with agencies we also near the time of needing funds for when we are actually matched. So far we have raised about $2,700! Thank you all who have contributed to this!
Here is a list of the fundraisers that we currently have running.
1) You may purchase a piece of our 252 piece puzzle for $10. Every $10 donation will buy a piece of the puzzle. Once the puzzle is completely funded it will go into the babies nursery. You can make these donations on our PayPal Page.
2) We are continuing to do our flamingo flocking. If you have someone that you would like flocked just let us know!! You can look for more information about this you can contact Elizabeth.
3) We will be hosting a second yard sale on September 15th at our house. If you have something that you would like to donate just let us know and we will arrange a time to come and pick it up from you. We would also like to have a bake sale at our yard sale. So if you are a baker and would like to donate some baked goods let us know!
4) Elizabeth has started selling Mary Kay. Elizabeth makes a 50% profit off of each of her sales. If you are interested in hosting a Mary Kay party let Elizabeth know. This is a great way for us to get outside of our regular friends and family. Plus, its a lot of fun! You can also shop Mary Kay anytime at Elizabeth's personal website.
5) We are hopeful to have some other fun ideas in the future as well! Or you if you have ideas let us know!!
