Powerful Words
Today I had one of those days where I could clearly see God working in and through my life. I teach classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, and I have to go and pick up and take home some of my students. Normally, I have multiple people with me, some speak English and some don't. Today I was taking home an Iranian guy, who is probably around the same age as me. He can speak some English, understands a lot, and can read English.
After class today I went to take this client home, sometimes I transport clients in a company car, but today I took him home in my own car. For I don't know how long,I have had a small Bible sitting in my car. It just so happens that it sits right in front of the passengers seat. My client saw "the book" as soon as he got into the car, and asked if he could look at it. I of course said that he could. I then witnessed an Iranian of Bahi faith begin to read the Bible in my car.
As we drove down the road I could hear him reading the words and sounding out some. I don't know if the words of the Bible have ever sounded so sweet to my ears. When we got to his apartment I saw him look at "the book" and kind of linger in my car. I offered to let him borrow the Bible until the next time that I saw him again, which should be about two weeks from now. I don't know if this client really knew what he was reading or not, but I am praying that over the next two weeks that words that this young man reads will touch his heart in a way that he has never experienced before.
Today was a great reminder to me of why I do what I do. I am in a unique position, I get to meet people who come from all over the world and who still have family across the world. And if I am willing to listen to the Spirit and lead as it follows then I have the ability to make a difference for the Kingdom without ever leaving Nashville. I admit that I don't have the chance to share the Gospel on a daily bases with my clients, but I do pray that each and every refugee that I come in contact with is able to see Christ through my love for them. Please join me in praying for this young man. Pray that the words of the Bible would touch his heart, and that if he has questions about what he is reading that he would seek out answers.
I would also like to ask you to think about donating to Race/for refugees. What happened to day is a great example of what World Relief is all about and what we do on a daily bases. We love our refugees with all of heart, and try to love them the way that Christ would love them. I would love for each and everyone of you to be able to meet some of the wonderful people that I come into contact with on a daily bases, I think that you would fall in love with them too!
