We're Adopting!

When I was growing up I had a teacher who adopted a child from China. It was one of my first experiences with adoption. It touched me so much that I just knew that one day I would adopt. I didn't know what that really meant, or what the process looked like, but I knew that it was going to be a part of how I grew my family.

Fast forward twenty-ish years, I am now married to a wonderful man and have two of the most precious little boys. Since Adrian I were dating we have talked about our family and what we thought it would look like. We were overjoyed when Urijah was born and knew that we would want to continue adding to our family. After Lochlan was born we talked and decided that we still didn't feel as though our family was quite done growing. We talked about trying getting pregnant again, but that didn't feel right for us this time. We continued to pray and felt the Lord calling us to adopt. I prayed for a long time that Adrian would have the same desire to adopt as me, and that the Lord would release us to do so.

We are just in the very beginning stages of this exciting journey, but we pray that you will join us. We ask that you will pray for Adrian and I as we being this process. That you will pray for Urijah and Lochlan, that we will be able to explain things to them on a level they understand. We ask that you begin to pray for the birthmother of our child, at this point she might not know she is pregnant, or she might not even be pregnant yet. Pray for her as she makes decisions about her pregnancy. Pray for her heart and ask that she be comforted during what is most likely one of the hardest times she has walked through.

It is no secret that adoption can be quite costly. We want to kick off our adoption fundraising with a t-shirt fundraiser. We have a goal to sell at least 100 shirts in the next 21 days. You can go here to purchase a shirt bonfire.com/benton-adoption. You may also go here to make a donation. We will be hosting many other exciting fundraisers throughout this journey, so keep your eyes open!
