I GRADUATED!!
Well, just in case you missed it somehow, I mean I wrote four blogs about it and posted on facebook about it constantly, I graduated on Saturday!! I promise that this will be the last blog about graduating and about school EVER!!
I could not have asked for a better day on Saturday. Union has a tradition of having graduation on the West Lawn, it is a beautiful place with the clock tower as the background. However, there was a good chance that it was going to rain on Saturday, which meant that graduation was going to be moved to a coliseum in Jackson. I desperately wanted to graduate outside a prayed that it would not rain. Not only did it not rain for the ceremony, but it did not rain at all on Saturday. Instead, it was sunny and warm, well it was more hot than warm, especially if you are in a polyester black robe. But I was happy to be outside!!
I got to spend the day with my entire family and with the friends that God blessed me with during Grad school. I was so glad that I could spend such a wonderful day with such amazing people. I know that I could not have made it through the past ten months without each and everyone of them. I know that God placed them all in my life for a special reason and I am so thankful for them.
I also got a special visit from Dennis. I had no idea that he was coming until I got a text about 2 and a half hours before graduation started. He sat through two high school graduations and then hopped in his car and drove two hours to see me graduate. I was so surprised and honored that he was able to come.
I am so glad that I have so many supportive people in my life who want to see me succeed. And if you don't believe me then just look at these videos! Just an FYI family is asked not to scream for their family member as they walk across the stage just to stand, then at the end you can applaud and yell. And mom is missing from the video because she was taking pictures, of course!
I know that many of you are wondering what I want to do now that I have graduated. Well, first and foremost I want a job!! My ultimate goal is to use my degree within a Christian agency or the ministry. I know that many do not see social work as a degree that goes hand and hand with the church. However, social work was founded in Christian beliefs and values, and that is how I plan on practicing it. I want to bring hope and healing to those who are in most need of it, and while doing so I want to show them the love of Christ. Many times this will be done without words, but through my actions, smile, care for them, and love. God has led me through my school journey and I know that He will continue to guide me as I search for the job that He has for me. I would appreciate your prayers during this time while I look for my "Big girl job"!!
You're awesome! Praying for God to open up some amazing doors for you! xoxo
