Big Girl Job!!

So as I am sure all of you know I graduated from Union in May with my Master's in Social Work. Being that I am not a girl who loves school, since I began school I was longing for the day I would be done and out in the work world. I know that might seem strange to some, who actually wants to go work? ME that's who!! I have always felt that I was led back to school by God and that I was getting this education so that I might more effectively impact His Kingdom. So while I knew that school was important and that I needed to do my best I wanted to be done, and I wanted to see what the next step was going to be.

Before I graduated from school in May I had been looking for jobs. I was determined that I was going to return home from graduation on Saturday May 21 and start a job on Monday May 23. Well, that isn't exactly how it worked out, but I was ok with that. I took advantage of this being my last summer, but at the same time I was diligently looking for a job. I began to get extremely discouraged because I was getting no phone calls back and no interviews, I felt as though no one wanted me. I was either over-qualified or didn't have enough experience. The summer was quickly coming to a close and I still had no job. I had promised myself that if I didn't have a "real" job by the end of the summer I would go and just find a job, but this isn't what I really wanted to do.

Then suddenly Mid- July I received a call to set up a job interview, then the end of July I received another call to set up another interview, and following that another call. However, it was the second call that I was most excited about! I had applied at World Relief Nashville while I was still in school but I never heard anything from them. I just thought that they weren't interested and I moved on. Turns out they were interested it just took them a little longer to let me know. A week later I was in their office being interviewed and now a week and a half later I am an official employee of World Relief Nashville!!

I am so excited that the Lord has led me to this amazing organization. I first heard of them about two years ago when I was doing my undergraduate work. They are a non-profit Christian organization that works with refugees from all over the world who are coming into America. They also go into other countries and empower the local churches and local people to face the issues that they are challenged by everyday.

I will be working with refugees who have been in the country for awhile and who need assistance with a variety of things. I feel so blessed that my job will be making a difference in people's lives, and that I will be able to share the love of Christ on a daily basis. I don't feel as though I will be losing my freedom on Monday when I start my job, I feel like I will be gaining freedom in Christ. It is so amazing what God can do when you just trust Him.
